The unorthodox mixture of classical Symphony and violent Death/Doom Metal might not be suitable to everybody at first sight. By combinating it with modern dance, light und stage show it merges to something unique, which nobody can ignore. Tarja Tarja Turunen has studied at the Savonlinna Upper Secondary School for the Arts and the Kuopio Department of the Sibelius Academy. She has managed to combine a classical background with heavy metal. She has been the soloist with Nightwish since 1997. This band has released two albums, Angels Fall First in 1997 and Oceanborn in 1998; the latter has already gone gold in Finland. In summer 1999, Nightwish made over 60 appearances in Finland.

Riku Niemi: Musician, conductor, arranger, producer, member of the Toimii ensemble. Recently, Riku Niemi has concentrated on composing and on producing music for discs, TV programmes and films. He has been particularly successful with recordings made with a diverse selection of artists and bands such as Karita Mattila, Matti Salminen, the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, M.A. Numminen, Arja Koriseva, Markku Aro, Hector and the rock bands Waltari and Sir Elwoodin hiljaiset värit.
